The Berlin Automatic. Classic design reinterpreted.

With the Berlin Automatic, we bring one of our most popular lines into a new era. Inspired by the clean forms of the 1950s and 1960s, it combines classic elegance with modern watchmaking and reliable everyday performance.

Reduced in expression, precise in design, and consciously timeless.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

The elegance of past decades

The domed, satin finished dial with finely printed index markers and elegant needle hands reflects the aesthetic of classic dress watches.
The day and date display integrates seamlessly into the overall design, offering practical function without disturbing its visual balance.

Midnight Blue, Copper Beige, or Sepia Gold each set their own tone, ranging from classic to modern to iconic.

Mechanical movement for those who appreciate craftsmanship

The automatic movement uses the motion of your wrist as its source of energy. With every movement, the mainspring is wound and powers the watch. It operates entirely without a battery and is driven solely by mechanical energy.

Through the four screw down exhibition case back, this engineering becomes visible. The rotor moves with every motion, gears interlock with precision, and time is measured reliably. Mechanics you can see and experience.

What our customers say about us

Why we make Bauhaus watches?

In your search for a classic and durable watch, you are faced with 2 alternatives today:

1. you can buy a watch from a luxury manufacturer for a very high price, or
2. a watch from a trendy brand whose quality is as short-lived as the trend that made the brand popular.

When I worked in a watch manufactory during my school days and was looking for a watch for myself, I realised that there would have to be a 3rd alternative.

3. Since 2016, we have been breaking new ground and developing timeless Bauhaus-style watches that will outlive trends and continue to give pleasure for many years to come. And all that at a fair price.

In the meantime, over 53,000 watch lovers are convinced of our mission and our watch design has received several awards.

Find out what makes our timepieces so special by reading on.

The engine on your wrist: the Miyota 8215

The Miyota 8215 automatic movement has been produced by the renowned manufacturer Miyota since 1977. Since then, it has established itself as robust and reliable in the watch world.

A power reserve of 42 hours and a date function make the mechanical movement a reliable companion in everyday life.

Velvety soft leather strap made in Germany

In the middle of the Bavarian Forest, a small leather manufactory has been producing leather goods at the highest level for decades.

It is punched, tanned and sewn with much love and care. Most of it is still done by hand.

The velvety soft calfskin and the outstanding workmanship of our specially developed premium strap create a noticeably pleasant feeling when worn.

Easy strap change without tools

Thanks to the quick-change system, you can give your timepiece a new look in just 10 seconds:

1 — Slide the pin of the spring bar inwards.

2 — Pull the strap off the watch.

3 — Put on a new strap by sliding the pin inwards again and inserting the spring bar one after the other into the holes in the case.

Can I order the watch with a different strap?

We will be happy to check whether we can realise your desired combination. Please contact us by e-mail at support@sternglas.com and we will help you personally.

How is the movement maintained?

We recommend that you have your watch serviced every 3-5 years if it is used daily.

Since there are oils and resins in the watch that can dry out over time, they should be replaced regularly, otherwise mechanical abrasion or bearing damage can occur in the movement. Seals should be checked every 5 years and replaced if necessary, crown and barrel every ten years. This ensures that you will enjoy your mechanical watch for a long time.

You can have your watch serviced directly by our watch service or by one of our specialist retail partners in your area.
