Revive the Roaring Twenties with the Naos Edition Cambridge

The golden decade was a pivotal moment for watchmaking in terms of technology. In 1924, the English watchmaker John Harwood patented the first automatic watch. Just three years later, Joseph Horton, together with American engineer Warren Marrison, invented the quartz watch and presented it at the conference of the International Union of Scientific Radio Telegraphy.

The uniqueness: its impressive accuracy. While the commercialization of the quartz watch didn't happen until the 1960s, the essential foundation was laid much earlier.

The fashion style characterised by class and the new glamour of the 1920s inspired us in creating our latest timepiece. Following on from last year's automatic version, the limited Naos Edition Cambridge comes with a precise quartz movement.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

The New Era of Watches

We celebrate the Roaring Twenties and the upcoming golden season with the new edition of the STERNGLAS classic. The Naos Edition Cambridge is limited to only 999 pieces and equipped with the reliable Ronda calibre 714 from the Swiss manufacturer.

The domed dial with subtle satin-finish in the colour "British Racing Green" perfectly matches the polished, gold-coloured 38 mm stainless steel case. Other highlights include the gold date frame and orange accents on the hands. An authenticity certificate with the registered edition number is included.

Gold-coloured case back with edition engraving

The 4-fold screwed caseback shows the noble edition engraving "Racing" with a vintage sports car and of course the limitation number, which makes each piece unique. For decades, the unmistakable "British Racing Green" colour adorned British sports cars on famous racetracks.

In exactly this livery, Briton William Grover-William won the first Monaco Grand Prix in 1929 almost 100 years ago in his Bugatti Type 35 C.

What our customers say about us

Why we make Bauhaus watches?

In your search for a classic and durable watch, you are faced with 2 alternatives today:

1. you can buy a watch from a luxury manufacturer for a very high price, or
2. a watch from a trendy brand whose quality is as short-lived as the trend that made the brand popular.

Moin! I'm Dustin Fontaine, Founder of STERNGLAS...

When I worked in a watch manufactory during my school days and was looking for a watch for myself, I realised that there would have to be a 3rd alternative.

3. Since 2016, we have been breaking new ground and developing timeless Bauhaus-style watches that will outlive trends and continue to give pleasure for many years to come. And all that at a fair price.

In the meantime, over 53,000 watch lovers are convinced of our mission and our watch design has received several awards.

Ronda quartz movement 714 with date function

The Ronda 714 quartz calibre works behind the screwed steel back.

The movement offers a battery life of up to 60 months and a rate accuracy of -10/ +20 seconds per month.

With a low construction height of 2.5mm, the 714 calibre is the ideal engine for our Naos.

Strap made from exceptionally robust English Bridle leather

The dark brown strap made of English bridle leather provides the classic look. This leather is otherwise used in equestrian sports, as a bridle and in the saddle, and is therefore also characterised by its special resistance and robustness.

Made with great care by our German partner leather manufacturer in the heart of Bavaria.

Easy strap change without tools

Thanks to the quick-change system, you can give your timepiece a new look in just 10 seconds:

1 — Slide the pin of the spring bar inwards.

2 — Pull the strap off the watch.

3 — Put on a new strap by sliding the pin inwards again and inserting the spring bar one after the other into the holes in the case.

How long does the battery last?

The batteries we use typically last between 2-5 years. We recommend having a jeweler or watchmaker perform a battery replacement.

Did you know that ...

... the principle of "Form follows Function," a fundamental concept of Bauhaus design, also played a central role in the development of the Naos model? The Naos embodies the essence of this principle by combining a clear, minimalist aesthetic with functional elements. Every detail of the watch, from its sleek case to the easily readable dials, has been carefully designed to maximize functionality without compromising on form.

In this way, the Naos brings together the timeless elegance of Bauhaus design with modern watchmaking craftsmanship, proving that in the world of watches, form and function are inseparably intertwined.
