The design of the chronograph follows the Bauhaus principle of "form follows function": the pusher at 2 o'clock has the same signal colour as the large chrono hand and the left-hand totaliser (stop minute) to emphasise the connection.

Hamburg Chrono Dark Green Bronze: Bestselling Combination with Maritime Flair

The Hamburg Chrono Dark Green Bronze combines the most popular combinations of past STERNGLAS variants like the Hamburg Dark Blue Bronze. The PVD bronze case is a true community favorite, reminiscent of antique ship screws or the red brick buildings of Hamburg's Speicherstadt (the famous warehouse district in Hamburg).

Together with the dark green dial and the orange chronograph hand, it creates a distinctive timepiece that will delight not only harbor enthusiasts. Fashionably, the Hamburg Chrono Dark Green Bronze can be combined in various ways: it pairs well with a suit for formal occasions or casually with jeans and a t-shirt.

For those seeking a stylish chronograph with maritime flair, the Hamburg Chrono Dark Green Bronze is the perfect choice.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

Keeping time in focus: The Hamburg Chrono

The start and stop function is intuitively operated via both pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock. The upper pusher starts and stops the chronograph hand, while the lower one resets it back to 12 o'clock – just like a mechanical chronograph.

During the stop process, the left subdial displays the elapsed minutes, while the right subdial serves as a 24-hour indicator to keep track of the day. Inside the chronograph, the Seiko VK64 Mecha-Quartz movement ensures precise timekeeping and a smooth sweeping seconds hand. The mechanically driven chronograph hand takes five steps per second, moving significantly smoother than the typical second tick of a classic quartz watch. Thanks to this movement, the date window is also bigger.

The design of the chronograph follows the Bauhaus principle of "form follows function": The pusher at 2 o'clock shares the same distinctive color as the large chronograph hand and the left subdial (stop minute), emphasizing their connection.

Playing with time

In Hamburg, various regattas hold tradition. What makes this sport unique: the race begins even before the starting gun. Because here, it's decided who sails into pole position.

Nevertheless, sailboats are in constant motion, propelled by the wind, as crews remain on standby for minutes until the race officially commences. Timing is critical. Hence, the watch becomes the sailor's best companion.

The Hamburg Chrono aims to be your motivator, urging you to give your all. It's the witness to your achievements as you strive for personal bests. For in life, as in sailing, every second counts.

We've captured this spirit on the reverse side: with a detailed engraving depicting two sailboats racing on the Outer Alster lake. A spectacle we witness firsthand year after year.

Wrist-bound navigation

They go by various names – Yachttimer, Regatta-Timer, Yacht-Chronographs, or Sailing Watches – and they inspired our new STERNGLAS Hamburg Chrono. But why are they so vital?

A brief primer on sailing watches: A Regatta-Timer is a timepiece equipped with a countdown function, specifically designed for regattas. Once set, it displays the remaining time until the race begins.

Yet, a chronograph serves purposes beyond this, aiding in tactical maneuvers, decision-making, or timing between waypoints.

It's a motivator, a witness to success, and a crucial instrument in watersports.

What our customers say about us

Why we make Bauhaus watches?

In your search for a classic and durable watch, you are faced with 2 alternatives today:

1. you can buy a watch from a luxury manufacturer for a very high price, or
2. a watch from a trendy brand whose quality is as short-lived as the trend that made the brand popular.

When I worked in a watch manufactory during my school days and was looking for a watch for myself, I realised that there would have to be a 3rd alternative.

3. Since 2016, we have been breaking new ground and developing timeless Bauhaus-style watches that will outlive trends and continue to give pleasure for many years to come. And all that at a fair price.

In the meantime, over 53,000 watch lovers are convinced of our mission and our watch design has received several awards.

Seiko TMI VK64 Mecha-Quartz Movement

A very special movement beats inside the Hamburg Chrono: the Seiko Mecha-Quartz VK64. This remarkable quartz chronograph movement impresses with its tactile feel and the smooth, fast movement of the hands.

The pushers of the movement offer a clearly defined pressure feeling and the central chronograph hand ticks in fine 1/5-second increments.

The highlight is the 2-point hammer system. After pressing the reset button, all chronograph hands return to zero immediately and synchronised - just like a mechanical chronograph. Thanks to this movement, the date window is also larger.

After 60 minutes have elapsed, the chronograph hand stops again.

Vintage leather, SuperSlim metal bracelet, or nylon strap?

The velvety interchangeable strap in Mocha made from Italian vintage leather stands out with its distinctive cut edge and two-tone 'pull-up effect'.

External influences allow the leather to mature over time, creating the unique vintage look.

Crafted with great care by our German partner leather workshop.

Alternatively, choose from the innovative SuperSlim bracelet made from stainless steel or the snug nylon band, perfect for summer.

Easy strap change without tools

Thanks to the quick-change system, you can give your timepiece a new look in just 10 seconds:

1 — Slide the pin of the spring bar inwards.

2 — Pull the strap off the watch.

3 — Put on a new strap by sliding the pin inwards again and inserting the spring bar one after the other into the holes in the case.

How long does the battery last?

Did you know that ...

... Hamburg and timekeeping have been closely linked for centuries?

In seafaring, knowing the correct time meant arriving at the right place at the right time. By converting time intervals into longitude, distances to the home port or destination port were determined. This enabled sailors around Hamburg to navigate safely through the waters.
